The Lonely Goatherd

O ho lay dee odl lee o, o ho lay dee odl ay, O ho lay dee odl lee o, lay dee odl lee o lay! This little gem is an alternative movie poster for the movie The Sound of Music. Representing the movie is an illustrated homage to the Lonely Goatherd, the puppet play put on by Julie Andrews and the children featuring the stringy marionettes of the mother, father, and baby goats.

West South Central

New pieces from the series Illustrated States of America, for the states of the West South Central Region of the United States. Check them out here, at my store!

This series mixes traditional oil painted media and digital collage work in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Decided to try a new approach here with the digitally combined collage, basically scanning in the line drawing of each state and some painted textures. Much quicker than painting all fifty states individually, and an exercise in using Adobe Photoshop again, since my exposure recently has been lacking.

The Serpent Bearer

Decided recently to add the not long ago rediscovered 13th astrological sign Ophiuchus the Serpent Bearer to my Illustrated Zodiac series.

Natural Born Killers

This poster is an homage to the 1994 thriller Natural Born Killers, starring Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis as a modern Bonny and Clyde style criminal team sensationalized in the media to the point of becoming pseudo-celebrities.

The Jovian Planets and a now Trans-Neptunian Object

Pieces from a new collection of prints representing by the planets of the solar system, the Heavenly Bodies. Each print has an illustrated interpretation of a planet with information about the planets location in the solar system, the Greek god it is associated with, and the major moons for each planet.
This first grouping includes all the jovian planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, as well as the Trans-Neptunian dwarf planet Pluto.

Let the wild rumpus start!

A little poster inspired by the movie adaptation of the classic, Caldecott medal winning children’s book “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak. The eyes of the Wild Things peek out of the forest around the stylized crown to represent Max, the main character of the story. I tired to imbue this piece with a sense of whimsy and ethereal light akin to the novel and its movie adaptation.

Draco the Dragon

The noble Draco peers down to earth from his heavenly perch.

“Draco” represented by the Chinese dragon, is the sixth in the new series of paintings, “Constellation Fauna”. This series pertains to the constellations and their real or not so real animal counterparts. The image is an illustrated painting of the animal covered with the constellation bearing its name.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Finally getting back to work on the Dragon addition to the Constellation Fauna series. Been struggling on where to take this piece, but after setting it aside for a while ( and I mean a while) I think I finally got the wind back in my sails. Should hopefully have it finished within the next week.
