Alternative movie poster design for the 2000 horror fantasy thriller The Cell by director Tarsem Singh. This dark movie featured Jennifer Lopez, Vince Vaughn, and Vincent D’Onofrio in the visual wonderland of the dream world of the mind.

My version of the poster features a white hummingbird to play off the bird and hummingbird imagery throughout the movie, both from the villain and his victims, and the pure white of innocence as an important part of the movies visuals. This plays against the background of green, which is the color of the mind and of dreams. The carver logo, which plays a major part in the movie, cradles the dead hummingbird similar to the ‘cell’ that gives the movie its name.

This alternative movie poster is an homage to the campy, over the top, and touching movie ‘The Fifth Element‘ by French director Luc Besson. This image was done as a simple silhouette of the fifth element herself, with her trademark orange hair, floating through space. The background was created as an abstract representation of a spacial anomoly or nebula, with the symbols of the four elements floating within. The entire image was designed to give an ethereal, spacey feel to a funky, wacky little sci-fi number.
